The house on 307 E Carroll St was obtained at the end of 2015 with the help of generous donors and a goal to renovate the property for use as an Emergency Family Shelter
The Gutted Gala, our first major event. A night of art, conversation, community, and celebration with the community at the house.
In May 2016, with support of individual donors and the Fellheimer Foundation, the roof was replaced.
During Oct 2016, the old windows were removed. A total of 21 new windows and 3 new exterior doors made possible through a grant from the Kyuper Foundation and Pella Corp. were installed.
In late Oct and early Nov 2016, a wrap-around porch and deck with stairs were installed on the west and south sides.
In late Nov 2016, outside electrical service was restored and breaker panel was installed. (The interior electrical system will be completed later in the project.)
Between Dec 2016 – Feb 20, 2017, the entire house was re-sided by a contractor. This large project included replacement of the soffit, the fascia, rotten window sills, wrapping beams over two porches. Exterior door frames were installed, along with 2 windows, and on the south side, a double patio door.
On April 29, 2017, the community was invited to tour the house.
In May and June 2017, repairs to the foundation were completed by a contractor.
